This was a crap weekend. Snow, and other sorts of flakiness, ruined everything. Now I’m gonna be nice and restless going into a long, cold week of work.
The Olympics are on, and are bullshit. I don’t understand how anyone can watch a sporting event when the results are posted on every major news website half a day before. I can’t stand NBC’s hyping of various American “heroes”, such as the “Flying Tomato”, when I already know what happens! It’s unbearable! I grew up loving the Olympics and being so totally into the hype. Now, it just seems stupid/manufactured.
What the fuck is the scoring in snowboarding about anyway? Everyone “goes big”, don’t they? What is big?
Another Olympic note. This whole Michelle Kwan thing is a total fraud. She should have never been allowed onto the Olympic team. That should not be based on past performance. Of course, that’s not who even made the decision – NBC and the advertisers did. Kwan is marketable, and that what’s the Olympics are about – stories and marketing. It’s not about sports. Just look – NBC offerred to make her a commentator right after she quit! Trying to cut their losses I guess. Now, Emily Hughes will be the big story – will she be ready in time? If she loses, is it because of Kwan? If she wins, is she the new Kwan? It’s bullshit! It’s a sport, treat it like a competition, not a soap opera!
This week will suck. Just can’t wait for the weekend.
